A Big Thank You to Declan Carville
24th Mar 2026
A huge thank you to local author Declan Carville for visiting our class and sharing some of his wonderful works with the pupils. He encouraged everyone to keep their stories and artwork, reminding them that they never know how these ideas might be used in the future!
The pupils also had the fantastic opportunity to ask questions about the life of being an author, gaining real insight into what the job involves.
Declan showed the class the early stages of creating a story, including the original drawings, planning materials and the timeline from the first idea right through to a fully published book. Pupils were able to compare the early sketches with how they appeared in the final version—an inspiring look at the full creative process.
He also shared brilliant ideas about where he gets his inspiration, as well as the many different locations across Northern Ireland that influence his writing.
It was a valuable and memorable experience for the pupils, and we are very grateful for his time.
