Amazing Butterfly Transformations in P5/6! 🐛🦋
A huge congratulations to the boys and girls in our P5/6 classroom on the successful raising of our five caterpillars!
Since their arrival before Easter, the children carefully observed every stage of the lifecycle. They watched patiently as the caterpillars grew, changed, and eventually formed their chrysalides. It was fascinating to see how each caterpillar developed at a slightly different rate, with our final butterfly taking a little longer, even after the others had already emerged and been released.
The class enjoyed observing the butterflies up close, even watching them feed on oranges and learning about their behaviour and needs. Alongside this, the pupils completed comprehension work to deepen their understanding of how to care for caterpillars and butterflies, including the importance of temperature, environment, and knowing the right time to release them.
This was a truly valuable and memorable experience for everyone involved.
Farewell to our five beautiful butterflies—now on their wonderful journey out into the world!
