Our new World Around Us topic on ‘Pirates and Sea-life’ has got off to a great start! Some pupils have enjoyed the table top activities of jigsaws and games related to the theme, threading beads for pirate jewellery whilst some other pupils prefer the small world area role playing with toys to connect to this topic. Some pupils have built boats with the construction blocks too. One of our outdoor play sessions involved the pupils participating in carousel activities from ‘walking the plank’, ‘Island hopping for treasure,’ ‘Going Fishing,’ ‘Pirate training’ and using the new chalk boards in the playground to draw sea creatures. For a World Around Us lesson pupils had to identify different types of boats and match labels and read descriptions.
